Local Flare - Fairhope Alabama

Oh yes, I went there. I love cliche, I love pun...it's just too fun. (I'm groaning just re-reading that, but it still applies.) These days we have to pinch our pennies and watch where those pennies end up. I'm proud to say that our extra pennies are stimulating the sluggish economy in the most delicious way possible...we left our hovel and went out to dinner a lot this week! Why else would I not be lovin' the blog? Sorry for the lag in entries.

I tried a local restaurant because I had to. I love Japanese cuisine...even if it's source is questionable. So I ventured out to Tokyo (no website - WHAT is up with THAT)...in Fairhope! If they could do the Gyodon (Beef bowl) even close to what I had in Japan...I'd try more. And soooo...I've now had the Chicken Katsu (don't do this take-out...gets soggy after half an hour - gotta love PANKO), Beef Sukiaki and various sushi delights...Nigiri has yet to be tested...can't wait. So far...I'm waiting for the Sister-in-law to give her nod...I'm enthralled, yummified and quite pleased.

And for us Baka Gaijin - stupid foreigners - (oh! this is the US and the unbelievable southern fried south) good Japanese food is hard to find.
Next, I may venture into the real fried fancy of the SOUTH and hit you with the Gulf Coast delights...been to a few haunts and still trying to gather a trove of treasure - DeSotos's - next to discover. Coconut shrimp and...where did I put that menu...

Betty Haynie Antiques and Fine Art

I haven't posted in a while, that's what happens when you get busy with life. I do want to stop in and tell you about a Fairhope treasure that I got to explore this week at the behest of my husband. He updates the web site for Betty Haynie Antiques and Fine Art and needed a few product shots.

Wow, what a place! I was expecting the musty old clutter to surround me and stop me up for days, when I walked into the most well planned antique shop I've ever been in. I felt like I was walking into someone's living room. There was no clutter, everything had a place and it was just a pleasure to explore the short time I was there.

If you happen by, tell her I sent you and that I will certainly take pictures whenever she needs me to.

Self Portrait w/Mocha and Mama

It's been a long while since I've done a self portrait. See if you can find me...

Need help...look a little closer.

How fun, I may have to look for more obscure self portrait ops...only I won't give so many clues.

And here is what Mocha thinks of that...BIG YAWN! :)
